The ASC consists of plenary and concurrent sessions for specialties. Each participating specialty invites an eminent authority as a special ASC Visitor around whom the specialty program is built. ASC Visitors are selected from overseas or within Australia. The ASC is held over five days and provides ample opportunity for inter-disciplinary as well as specialised discussion.

The first general scientific meeting of the College was held in Canberra in 1928. Since then meetings have been held annually, with the venue rotating through the main cities of Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

In conjunction with the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association (ANZBA) and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong Conjoint Annual Scientific Congress will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from Monday 12 to Friday 16 May 2008.

Bergama District Head Hüseyin Eren, Mayor’s representative Şenol Gündüz, Garrison Commander Avni Angun and Municipal Council Member Gülten Üze participated in the opening ceremony that included guests and scientists. After the opening ceremony, 50 local and international scientists and academics started studies at the congress. During the congress that will last four days, the scientists are to make presentations and organize workshops and group works on psychodrama methods.

Dr. Abdülkadir Özbek Psychodrama Institute, European Psychodrama Training Associations Federation (FEPTO), Turkey Group Psychotherapy Association, Istanbul Psychotherapy and Group Psychotherapy Association organized the congress, supported by the Bergama Municipality and Culture and Tourism Ministry.

The Guangzhou Olympic Scientific Congress is slated for August 1-5, a week prior to the opening of Beijing Olympic Games. The Congress is named 2008 International Convention on Science Education and Medicine in Sport.

It’s the first time for the Olympic Scientific Congress to unite four international organizations of ICSSPE (International Council of Sports Science and Education), FIMS (Federation of Medicine Science), IOC (International Olympic Committee) and IPC (International Paralympic Committee).

“It’s the first practice of four-organization combination, so it ’s a pioneering sports science convention and a landmark in sports science history,” said Liu Peng, the president of organizing committee and State General Administration of Sport. “We should grasp the opportunity to push the international exchange and cooperation in sports science.”

Around 2,500 experts and prestigious personages on sports science are to weigh in the Congress. The organizing committee will guarantee an internationalized symposium with 1,000 foreign participants.
