Psychotherapists gather in Bergama

The 32nd Group Psychotherapy Congress got underway mid-week in one of the first health centers of the world, Asclepion-Bergama.

Bergama District Head Hüseyin Eren, Mayor’s representative Åženol Gündüz, Garrison Commander Avni Angun and Municipal Council Member Gülten Ãœze participated in the opening ceremony that included guests and scientists. After the opening ceremony, 50 local and international scientists and academics started studies at the congress. During the congress that will last four days, the scientists are to make presentations and organize workshops and group works on psychodrama methods.

Dr. Abdülkadir Özbek Psychodrama Institute, European Psychodrama Training Associations Federation (FEPTO), Turkey Group Psychotherapy Association, Istanbul Psychotherapy and Group Psychotherapy Association organized the congress, supported by the Bergama Municipality and Culture and Tourism Ministry.

“For thousands of years, Bergama has been the cradle of many ideas and civilizations. A pioneer in cultural and scientific progress, Bergama has an important historical and cultural heritage. Our great leader Atatürk, 83 years ago, told us to promote this beautiful district. Therefore, we are now glad to host a scientific congress and we are ready to do our best to support these activities,” said the Mayor’s representative Gündüz.
